Will no one save me from these meddlesome flamewars? Or, white guys harshing the mellow in three easy lessons

Now, obviously, I am not going to claim that Asia is paradise – and I won’t, so long as stories about graft keep coming out:

hat tip:

but Asia is tremendously cheerful compared to the harsh self-flagellation of the paler portions of Terra’s troubled surface.

White guys harshing the mellow, part 1:

Cory J. Clark and co-authors provide evidence that widespread belief in the existence of free will is bolstered by a fundamental desire to punish wrongdoers

White guys harshing the mellow, part 2:

Fred Reed explains the pseudo-Puritan-Pharisee-ism that dominates present-day Western culture:

I believe I could get tired of Northerners huffing and puffing about how moral they are. Ain’t nothing like a damn Yankee for smarmy hypocrisy. They can spit it out in chunks like saw logs. A Yankee can’t open his mouth without preaching about how everybody else ought to do something he won’t do himself.

Fred Reed also drops some harsh quotes in the same article at:

http://fredoneverything.net/Dixie.shtml

Examples:
“I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I, as much as any other man, am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race.”

“I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in anyway the social and political equality of the white and black races – that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people….”

Compared to that kind of racist white supremacism, it’s hard to call the HBD-sphere racist, but someone called Misdreavous went ahead and did so anyway, and then Jayman agreed with him, which brings us to:

it often feels like I am doing double duty not just counteracting the standard PC dogma, but addressing the right-wing crazy that rails against it (who are emboldened by the wrongness of the PC liberals to believe that all of their fanciful musing is correct). This in addition to the detestable outright White supremacists in this space (or whatever you want to call yourselves – if you feel comfortable in KKK robes or wearing a Nazi uniform, you fit the mold), who, really, aren’t any more desirable to have around than, say Islamic radicals.

If the facts about heritable human differences are to be ever taken seriously, it needs to be extricated from such utter nonsense, as well as from the mean-spirited sentiment.

So, clearly, no one can save me from this incessant pseudo-Puritan-Phariseeism. I WOULD actually get off my buttocks and try to improve my OWN life for a change, but that would mean that I would have to get off the Internet for more than fifteen minutes at a stretch … so … not going to happen. Plus, I might find myself taking responsibility for what happens in my own life … nope nope nope, I’m not going down that road. I think instead I’ll compulsively re-load iSteve and wonder why he filters my comments out.
