Thrasymachus is posting again

Thrasymachus wasn’t posting much for a while (I guess family responsibilities really cut into one’s blogging time) but he recently posted at:

I don’t claim to understand New York, but I can take a guess, based on the notion of “guard labor.”

New York has the rich, the middle class guards, the middle class labor, and the lower class guards.

Rent-a-cops, social workers, and real cops are all middle class guards.

Gang members and junkies are lower class guards.

Both the cops and the junkies are scary. Their work is to frighten the middle class labor into unthinking obedience. Incidentally, the junkies are also encouraged to vote for more welfare state benefits, i.e. middle class guard labor.
