Various disasters appear inevitable, but show no signs of arriving in a timely fashion (Same as it ever was…)

I don’t want to get your hopes up by saying “THE END IS NIGH.”

Because “nigh” means “near” and the end does not appear to be nigh. It does appear inevitable, but it shows no signs of putting the status quo out of its misery any time soon.

Theoretically, there is an economic bubble supporting the status quo, and inevitably that bubble must pop, but you might starve to death, or die of old age, before it does pop, so you can’t count on that pop to make your life any different.

The USA economy bestrides the world like a colossus, and the majority of people in the USA are getting steadily poorer. (This has been the same since about 1970.)

China shows no sign of saving the world economically (but even if it were doing so, we probably wouldn’t have timely and accurate news about it). (This has been the same since about 2000.)

Rabbis keep alleging moral superiority and making demands:

>Nineteen rabbis were cuffed Monday night outside a Trump hotel near Columbus Circle while protesting the President’s ban on travelers from seven Muslim-majority nations, police and activists said. The clergy members — seven men and 12 women — are members of T’ruah Rabbis, a liberal Jewish group that opposes President Trump’s executive order. “Tradition teaches us to be kind to the plight of refugees,” T’ruah co-chair Rabbi Rachel Gartner said after marching with group. She referenced the ill-fated St. Louis voyage full of Jewish refugees that was turned away from the U.S. in 1939.
>“We cannot tolerate the executive order that comes from the administration. It’s very painful for us. It’s personal. We remember the St. Louis,” Gartner told the Daily News. “It’s eerily reminiscent and it strikes us to our core.” Gartner joined about 200 protesters, including the rabbis, who hiked about 30 blocks to the Trump International Hotel and Tower at W. 59th St. and Central Park West. In an act of civil disobedience, nearly two dozen members of the group sat in the street, linked arms and sang Hebrew protest songs while blocking traffic. After a warning, cops moved in for arrests.
>The rabbis were handcuffed with their prayer shawls still draped over their shoulders. Members of the detained group managed to snap photos from inside the NYPD van showing several of the clergy members sporting skullcaps and the so-called pussy hats made famous during the Women’s March after Trump’s inauguration. T’ruah executive director Jill Jacobs was among those arrested. “Proud to be one of the 18 rabbis arrested tonight to say that we stand with immigrants & refugees,” she tweeted while in custody, later clarifying that there were 19 people detained. Jacobs, along with her colleagues, face misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and were released from custody around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday

A secretary in the Cabinet of US President Donald Trump and at least one of his advisers have accepted money from the anti-Iran Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) to give speeches for the terrorist group.

The MKO terrorist group has in the past lured a roster of former US and European officials to participate in its anti-Iran events.

Elaine Chao, confirmed this week as the Cabinet’s transportation secretary, received $50,000 in 2015 for a five-minute speech to the political wing of the MKO.

Chao, the wife of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, spoke before an MKO conference in 2015 in the French capital, Paris.

She received the so-called honorarium from the MKO-associated Alliance for Public Awareness, according to a report she filed with the US Office of Government Ethics.

In March 2016, Chao received another $17,500 for a speech that she gave to the Iranian-American Cultural Association of Missouri, with reported links to the MKO terrorist group.

Former mayor of New York City Rudy Giuliani has also acknowledged that he has been paid by the MKO for his appearances at the terrorist group’s events. However, the total amount of the received money is unclear because he has not filed a government disclosure form since his failed Republican presidential attempt in 2008.
