Oh, no, everyone can see my headlines

MATT AGORIST–The American Civil Liberties Union of South Dakota has just filed a major lawsuit against the South Dakota Department of Social Services, Avera St. Mary’s Hospital, members of the Pierre Police Department, the Sisseton Police Department, and the South Dakota Highway Patrol. The lawsuit is important as it seeks to put a stop to the state’s forced catheterization program that indiscriminately victimizes adults and children alike — all to see if they have an arbitrary substance in their urine.

While it seems that a lawsuit to prevent the state from forcing extremely painful medical procedures on children may be a bit over the top, the fact is, it is entirely necessary. The state of South Dakota, as the Free Thought Project has reported before, has a sordid history of forcing catheterization.

Lawyers for a man charged in a mass shooting plot in downtown Milwaukee say their client refused to participate when urged by FBI informants they say harassed him for months.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that lawyers for 25-year-old Samy Mohamed Hamzeh claim entrapment in the case and have asked Hamzeh be released from jail on bail pending his February trial.

Hamzeh was arrested in 2016 on two counts of possessing a machine gun and one count of possessing a silencer, which he bought from undercover FBI agents. Federal prosecutors allege he was planning to kill at least 30 people at a Masonic center to “defend Islam.”

Authorities arrested three more Lakewood couples Tuesday night in a continued effort to crack down on residents suspected of defrauding government-assistance programs, officials announced Wednesday morning.

The raids, conducted just before midnight, come on the heels of a massive bust on Monday morning that led to the arrests of eight Lakewood residents — four married couples — who allegedly bilked the government out of $1.3 million in illegal benefits.

Arrested on Tuesday night were Yitzchok, 33, and Sora, 39, Kanarek of Brisk Lane; Chaim, 40, and Liatt, 39, Ehrman, of Twin Oaks Drive; and William, 45, and Faigy, 40, Friedman, of Leigh Drive, according to a joint statement from Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph Coronato and State Comptroller Philip James Degnan.

All six defendants were charged with theft by deception, a second-degree offense, and are scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Ocean County Wednesday afternoon.

The statement said the latest residents arrested in the raids are accused of obtaining a combined $674,537 in illegal benefits from programs such as Medicaid, SNAP food assistance, HUD and Social Security, bringing the two-day total of alleged illegally obtained benefits to nearly $2 million.

Jonathan Landsman, PhD and Allison Wilson, PhD claim in a new report:

Genetically engineered (GE) bacteria have been found in riboflavin vitamin supplements intended for animal feed use according to newly published EU tests.

Contamination of food grade or animal feed supplements with GE bacteria is illegal in the European Union. In 2014, however, a German enforcement laboratory alerted EU officials to illegal GE bacterial contamination of a riboflavin supplement intended for animal feed. Further tests showed that the illegal contaminating strain was not among those the manufacturer claimed to be using.

The findings, just published in the journal Food Chemistry, were made by regulators from Germany and Italy who were sampling Chinese imports (Paracchini et al., 2017).
Similarly, a French testing laboratory found a riboflavin sample in 2015 contaminated with a probable identical bacterial strain also from China.

But here’s the real kicker…

Riboflavin (vitamin B2) unbeknownst to many was mainly chemically synthesized until recently. The aforementioned report was a revelation that riboflavin is now frequently produced by commercial fermentation using overproducing strains of GE bacteria!

For the first time in the history of Russian surgery, a retinal prosthesis was implanted in a patient with complete sight loss, giving him the opportunity to see the world again in a month.

On June 30, scientists and doctors from the Research and Clinical Center of Otorhinolaryngology at the Federal Biomedical Agency of Russia successfully completed a surgery process to implant a bionic eye, connecting it to the nervous system of a 59-year-old patient from Chelyabinsk who completely lost his sight due to a progressive disease.

Cardinal Peter Turkson, the highest ranking African prelate in the Vatican, said it is high time to “close the tap” of African immigration into Europe, which has reached new records in recent days.
Asked about recent rumblings that Italian authorities are finally ready to close down ports and begin turning away ships filled with migrants, Turkson told reporters the time has come to “turn off the faucet” of African migration to Europe and instead focus on migrants’ countries of origin.

“It is like water flowing from an open tap,” he said. “It’s not enough just to dry it, you have to turn off the faucet,” he added, noting that the vast majority of African countries are not war zones from which the populations must necessarily flee. “In my opinion, we can change things in order to keep young people where they are.”

VICE has posted a lot of stupid article, and I mean a lot of them. Topics such as ‘Why tipping stereotypes make dinging shitty for people of color‘, ‘The radical queer quest for a hetero-free nation‘ or ‘The Year in Male Tears‘. Usually, I would link the archives to these posts so we could all laugh together. I like posting archive links for two reasons. Firstly, it shows the original article just in case the author decides to make some changes to it. Secondly, we link them here at TTR just in case site decides to delete it, because what a lose that would be. VICE is certainly no stranger to having their words thrown back at their face. Which is precisely why it’s no surprise they’ve decided to disable ‘right wing archiving sites’.
