In my last article, I reviewed the case of Gough Whitlam’s firing at the hands of the Queen’s Governor General Sir John Kerr during a dark day in November 1975 which mis-shaped the next 45 years of Australian history. Today I would like to tackle another chapter of the story.
I used to believe as many do, in a story called “the American Empire”. Over the last decade of research, that belief has changed a bit. How about the CFR takeover over of American foreign policy during the 20th century? That is the British Roundtable Movement in America (created as Britain’s Chatham House in America in 1921).

Former BBC news presenter, 44, who became church minister is charged with 40 sex offences against adults and children over 30 years
A former BBC news presenter and church minister has been charged with dozens sex offences against adults and children.
Ben Thomas, 44, was a TV reporter and presenter for BBC Wales as well as hosting a Welsh language news show before leaving to become a pastor.
But Thomas, from Flintshire, Wales, has been charged with 40 sex offences over a 30 year period by North Wales Police.
The alleged offences include indecent assault and rape between 1990 and 2019.
Thomas left the BBC in 2005 to become a church minister and had been working as a pastor of the Criccieth Family Church in Gwynedd but left last year.
North Wales Police said: ‘Further to our statement in November regarding an investigation linked to the Criccieth Family Church, North Wales Police can confirm that Ben Thomas, Pastor for the church appeared before Llandudno Magistrates Court today charged with 40 offences of a sexual nature.
‘This is now an ongoing matter for the courts and it would be inappropriate to make any further comment.

ECJ rules against Hungary’s law mandating financial transparency for NGOs
The restrictions imposed by Hungary on the financing of civil organisations by persons established outside that Member State do not comply with EU law, the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) ruled on Thursday.
The European Commission referred Hungary to the CJEU over the legislation, which requires NGOs to make full disclosure of foreign funding over 7.2 million forints (EUR 208,700), late in 2017.
According to the court, by imposing obligations of registration, declaration and publication on certain categories of civil society organisations directly or indirectly receiving support from abroad exceeding a certain threshold and providing for the possibility of applying penalties to organisations that do not comply with those obligations, Hungary had introduced discriminatory and unjustified restrictions with regard to both the organisations at issue and the persons granting them such support.
Hungary’s government respects the ruling but is committed to “ensuring the transparency of NGOs” Gergely Gulyas, the head of the Prime Minister’s Office, said at his weekly press briefing on Thursday. He said the government still needs to examine the ruling in detail but said that it was heartening that the court agreed with the government’s goal of increasing transparency at NGOs so only the tools with which to achieve this need to be changed.
