Pol Pot was trained as a Buddhist, but showed little or no loyalty to traditional Buddhist religion. Pol Pot went to a Catholic school, but showed no mercy to Catholics or Christians. Like many people who were raised as Buddhists in times of violent nationalism, he was a violent nationalist.
